February!

6 February 10

Hi there. It's true. I'm supremely bad at updating. So much so, I had lunch with a friend who said 'Hey, why don't you send me when you're playing anymore? I miss those emails. Have you stopped entirely? What's the go with that?' And I said 'Skye, I'm supremely bad and a bit lazy at updating my email list. I promise to amend that.' Here I am, amending that. Skye, thanks for the massive kick up the butt.

Tore Divorces Us - December came and went, we said goodbye to Tore, who accepted an awesome (yay) job in WA (boo) and became temporarily Amy Kendall & a Kitchenhand. Know a double bassist? Send me an email. We played at Brookfield Vineyard with Dominic Francis and Linc Le Fevre - and Linc and our friend Dave took some great photos for us.

then we had to send Tore off in style. I'm a bit worried, Andy looks like he's going to club Tore with a mic stand to make him stay...

And we had to pose for one last awkward Family Photo.

Festivals Ahoy - On December 30th we played at the Taste Festival and the Falls Festival in a four hour period.  The Taste Festival is Tasmania's Food and Wine Festival in the South, held on the waterfront, with great wineries and food outlets all lined up in one shed. It's the highlight of Christmas holidays for me every year. This was the view from our stage...

Which was a decent way to spend a few hours I thought.

We finished playing, jumped in the car and drove to the Falls Festival at Marion Bay.

and once we'd played to the amazing Arts Village crowd, it was off to enjoy the Festival.

(who is that very tall woman flinging her arms around?)

The Falls Festival crew were just amazing, and the festival was one of the best organised events I've ever been to. I'll be back! I got to see some mind blowing acts - Datarock, Lyrics Born, Urthboy, Midnight Juggernauts, and I saw Grizzly Bear. A perfect way to cap off 2009.

A Week of Saturdays - Coinciding with the Taste and Falls Festival was the release of our new EP - A Week of Saturdays. Go over to here and have a listen. This one's special - it's a limited release run, each one is hand cut and numbered and the first 100 come with a free badge. It's not on iTunes yet, and won't be for awhile yet - so if you want a special edition copy - get busy!

2010 - Cygnet Folk Festival -
Not so long after Taste and Falls Festivals we toddled down the road (literally) to the Cygnet Folk Festival. This was my first year attending and playing the Festival, and it was great to see Cygnet swell to massive proportions for shows.

We played three shows over three days, and I got to see some great live music in between. One of our shows was an 11pm show at the Drill Hall in Cygnet and we folk rocked our way to midnight with an amazing crowd. Can't wait to take our show back next year.

House Concerts - Your house. AK & the KH. You invite 10+ friends - $10/ea - BYO. House concerts - we've always wanted to do them, and now we're hoping you'll invite us to come on down and folk rock on! Our friends Invisible Boy have been getting around doing a whole lot of house concerts - and they think it's a great way to spend an afternoon. They're big in America and Canada, and I'm starting to see more of them down here. An afternoon BBQ? A morning tea? A lazy Saturday evening? p.s. Cheaper than a night at the pub... The Kitchenhands and I are housebroken and very well trained, we'll even bring some baked goods with us. Interested?  Send us an email.

What's coming up next? -
AK & a KH will be playing with Invisible Boy and Summer Edmunds at the Republic Bar next Thursday evening - $5/door - come and say hi.

I've been songwriting like a madwoman, so there'll be some new tracks coming up shortly.

Hey Amy - how can I help? Why, funny you should ask. If you love the new music, please go and give us a review at Unearthed - I'll love you forever. Don't forget you can grab a widget from the bottom of this email and stick it on your blog, myspace, facebook, iLike, Encyclopedia, Letterbox etc etc. Otherwise just write our name in big letters on your notebook so people can see it. Lovely.

Okay, back to regular email programming.

x Amy
